Thursday, April 11, 2002 Letter to the Editor: Citizens of Olympia--all 43,000--do you care about your city? You are about to lose waterfront views around Percival Landing and Capitol Lake to rezoning for tall buildings/condos built by developers to lure upper incomepeople to live downtown? Please contact, city hall, the Olympia City Council members, planning commission members now. Come to the Olympia City Council meeting on Plum Street and sign up to speak before 7 p.m. on May 21 for the only public hearing on this matter. Or just come and stand among us to help stop this process. As someone who regularly attends city council meetings I'm telling you, developers come regularly to city council meetings with their visions of how our city, but hardly no one of the 43,000 Olympia citizens comes. Please come. Our city council needs and wants citizen involvement and support. Phyllis Booth |
