We haven't had time to do counts yet, but browsing through the comments to the Planning Commission makes one thing about the differences between the rezone's supporters and its opponents leap out. Roughly half of the people who have contacted the Planning Commission or the City Council supporting the rezone identify themselves as involved in the development business — builders, real estate agents, mortgage brokers, site planners, consultants, etc. Not that many downtown business people in retail or ordinary citizens who don't make their living through development have written or called in supporting the rezone.
(Although the following links are labeled by periods of time, according to the names of the City's pdf files, there's actually there's a good deal of shuffling around in the dates; the comments aren't all available on the City's website yet, either.)
